The city of Görlitz has set itself an ambitious goal. How can this be achieved? On the one hand, with a lot of local commitment. On the other hand, with ideas from outside. Knowledge and experience are just as much in demand as technical or social innovations, innovative business models, contributions from the arts and culture.
Within the project ‘Testing the City of the Future’, a total of 18 participants tried out living and working in the city of Görlitz from September 2021 to March 2023 and accompanied the city on its way to climate neutrality with their ideas, concepts and knowledge.
You can gain an insight into the activities of the participants Impact stories (German only).
You can find the detailed project results in the final report (German only).
Core findings of all participating partner institutions from the project series Probewohnen are presented in the recommendations for inner-city and in-migration-orientated urban development (German only).
The 'Testing the City of the Future' project ended in December 2023. We are planning to continue the project series in a further developed form and with a new focus. Information on this will follow shortly on the websites of the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Transformative Urban Redevelopment.
